The Gold Coast TechSpace formed in November of 2011 for like-minded individuals to get together to learn about technology, share ideas, and inspire and help each discover the possibilities for creating combinations of hardware and software technology.
The TechSpace is currently an informal learning centre but also aims to host and run formal classes for the local community on a progressively wide range of technology-related topics. We also aim to assist members who wish to take their projects onto incubator companies and commercialisation.
We have a focus on open, sustainable and community focussed technology, and in reaching out to our local community and groups. Having recently incorporated as an Association with an active committee, we have seen our small but vibrant membership base steadily grow over the past couple of months.
We are keen to attract more male and female members interested in any sort of technology, or in supporting and helping out our group in any way. The TechSpace is located in a 100m2 unit in Southport, Gold Coast. The space itself is looking great, and we have acquired quite a large amount of mainly second-hand equipment.
We have a focus on sustainable technology and have accepted some equipment already for breakdown, recycling and re-use as well as for our group’s use. One of our projects involves setting up a proof of concept for recycling e-waste from the public. However we are suffering from lack of storage space, and cannot accept and process any more equipment.
Here is a little walkthrough video of the space and gives you an ideas of why the shelving is needed and where it would be situated: http://youtu.be/UuKYD-twI6I
